Making Space: Documentary Project

Making Space is a documentary that explores the rise of collaborative city planning in the Bay Area, where citizens play an active role in shaping their neighborhoods by contributing and prototyping ideas for public space. The project follows several San Franciscans whose individual efforts have led to meaningful changes to the physical landscape and planning processes of the city. The project started as a celebration of individual change agents, local communities and progressive city planning practices. But it led us to important questions about gentrification and who ultimately benefits from these collaborative improvements to the streetscape.
